Sheffield

Sheffield is the greener blob

LEGI (Local Enterprise Growth Initiative) funding is enabling PRIME to offer support to potential entrepreneurs aged over 50 in Sheffield, even those at the earliest stage of thinking about starting in business. This is an outreach project, aimed at putting the option of self-employment in front of people who might not have considered this way of making a livelihood before.

PRIME is working as part of the “BiG” initiative coordinated by Sheffield City Council. We are offering workshops to explore possible business ideas for those still at the early stages of thinking about self-employment. And for those further along the start-up route we are holding events that give practical advice on particular business topics, such as managing money or the use of computers.

There will be roughly one pre-start workshop and one other business event each month for the duration of the two-year programme.

Workshops and events are being held in some of the most disadvantaged communities in order to reach those previously most removed from mainstream business support. If they are interested they are then encouraged to take up more the structured business start-up support available.
